Poema -seleccionado por su nieta Marina Montes

24 Oct

She is Gone
You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she’s gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she’d want: smile, open your eyes(like tita said), love and go on.

I saw you pass away. Although I loved you dearly, I could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke my heart to prove to me, he only takes the best!

Thank You for sharing Marina. My abuelita was there for every step of my life and I will always cherish the memories I made with her. She truly was and continues to be an inspiration for me in my life. There is no better way to honor her life than to “smile, open our eyes, love, and go on.”

What great words, mija! Purfect for my tia…while I sit here with tears rolling, yet with the biggest smile, she taught her family well and her unconditional love that overflowed from her heart, spreads to us all, always and because she does live on! Te quiero mucho, Tia! Hasta la proxima vida! Tu sobrina, Kilin
